Watson Box Car / St. Clair Station
Bill Logan says this about the car. "St Clair Station MP 90.8, St Clair Station was an original 1883 Flag Stop for the St Clair farm community. It had a 7 car 500' siding for wagon offloading, a milk platform built in 1912 and a decommissioned narrow-gauge boxcar installed in 1902 to serve as a freight and passenger station. The boxcar survives to this day moved to the Dana and Janet Watson Farm."
After railroad days, the narrow gauge box car used as the St. Clair Flag Stop up the hill to the Watson farm where it has sat ever since.
Can you spot the NG box car?
Bill Logan inspecting the only door viewable door. The car was given a tin roof and 2 sides which has really helped this car survive.
Sliding the door open really shows how well the tin roof has kept the rain out for all of these years.
When approaching the car from the lane, this is the side that you approach first. These sides were not covered in tin, but do not face the weather.
Walking around the car, here is the NE corner.
Walking around the car, here is the SE corner.
The SW corner of the car's support had fallen out some time ago. This was concerning and the Friends took action with the owner's permission to support this corner of the car again.
While not "front page worthy", little actions like this can help keep the remaining OR&W pieces of equipment around.
