Trailer Loading Day
The Friends of the OR&W partnered with FruhQuip, Inc. out of Zanesville, OH to load the car onto the trailer. On December 7th, they performed the work.
Instead of using a crane to lift Combine 29, the plan was to slide metal beams under the car at each bolster points. With the beams in place, they would then jack the car up.
The older cribbing that had been supporting the car for the last 30 years was removed.
After the car was high enough, they backed the trailer beneath the car. Once spotted, they would then begin to lower the car onto the trailer.
They made it look easy, but Combine 29 tolerated the move and at the end of the day was loaded and ready to be weatherproofed for the winter.
